Lookout Ski area has only reported a trace of snow, but management is hoping that with cooler temperatures and snow in the forecast, they will be opening soon. The three-month forecast is showing below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures.

“Our temperatures over the last week were slightly above normal,” Jim Ward with the Superior Forest Service reported last week.

Lookout Ski personnel said they are expecting 500-plus inches of snow this upcoming season. However, it is unlikely the area will see the record-breaking snowpack witnessed last year.
