Quilts of Valor and VFW flag retirement ceremonies

    Ladies who are members of the Horse Plains VFW Post 3596 Auxiliary prepared an excellent meal last Saturday afternoon before the Quilts of Valor presentations at the VFW. Pictured, clockwise from left, Nora Verpoorten, Jan Eilschlager, Karen Royse, Sue Bartholomew and Deborah Davis. Volunteer members not pictured are Becky Powley and Linda Barnes.

    A flag retirement ceremony was held outside the Plains VFW Post 3596 on Saturday evening, with the traditional burning of the folded flags.
