Man fires gunshots in Trout Creek

| November 15, 2018 3:04 PM

At approximately 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, Sanders County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call that a male subject was attempting to start a fire at the Lakeside Motel in Trout Creek. The male had also reportedly pointed a firearm at another individual.

SCSO deputies responded and while speaking with witnesses, the same male returned and fired additional shots into another nearby building, before fleeing in a motor vehicle. The deputies on scene returned to their patrol vehicles and pursued, but due to the head start of the suspect officers lost sight of him.

Law enforcement officers from surrounding agencies responded and assisted the SCSO in trying to locate the male, amid conflicting information. After several hours, the male was not found.

There were no injuries. Facts and evidence gathered at the scene indicate the male was acting alone and did not enter any of the buildings at the establishment. The identity of the male has been established, and arrest warrants are being sought at this time. More information will be posted as things develop.
