Sanders County was a hotbed of high school sports activity late last week. The Hot Springs Savage Heat defeated Denton-Geyser-Stanford 49-24 in the first round of the Class C 6-man football state playoffs Saturday. Hot Springs hosts Jordan next weekend in the state quarterfinals. The Plains volleyball team defeated Hot Springs in the semifinals of the District 14 Tournament at Hot Springs, then squeaked out a five-set victory over Charlo in the title match Friday evening, Oct. 26.
