Area golfers qualify for Class B, C state tournaments

Several area golfers qualified for their respective state tournaments recently.

Three Thompson Falls golfers will advance to the state tournament after qualifying last Wednesday in the Class B Divisional tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Bigfork.

For the boys, Kade Pardee carded an 83 to make the cut. Pardee was fourth. For the girls, Ellie Baxter placed third after scoring a 97 and Megan Baxter recorded a 102, good for fifth place.

The top 15 advanced to the state tourney, which will be held Tuesday and Wednesday in Billings at Eagle Rock Golf Course.

Jefferson’s Celi Chapman was the top female finisher after she scored 82. Three Forks was the top team, scoring 443.

Loyola’s Zeke Boos was the top male finisher with a 71. Bigfork’s Colin Wade was second at 76.

Three others from Thompson Falls played. Tristan Subatch scored a 113 while Cael Thimony had a 117 and Jesse Claridge shot a 126.

A number of other players from Mineral and Sanders counties qualified for the Class C state tournament in Bozeman at Riverside Country Club, also to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Boys had to score 100 or lower while girls had to shoot 120 or less.

From Clark Fork, Danner Haskins (90) and Aaron Waddle (99) made the cut while playing March 24 and Bryan Mask scored a 98 on April 15. Thomas Anderson scored a 93 on April 29.

St. Regis’ Jack Connolly scored 97 to make it on April 15.

For Plains, Duncan Chisholm scored 99 on April 29 while Brandt Snead shot a 91 on May 6.

For the girls players, Plains’ Kaylee Cole (93) and Kimmy Curry (110) made it on April 16 while playing at Plains Golf Course. Teammates Grace Horton (97) and Lexa Craft (115) each made it on May 10 at Plains.

Clark Fork’s Aubrei Contant shot a 118 on April 15 at Trestle Creek in St. Regis. Laura VanCleaf (117) made it on April 29, also at Trestle Creek.
