Sanders, Mineral county golfers claim state medals

A number of golfers from Mineral and Sanders counties had medal-winning performances last week at their respective Class B and C state tournaments.

In Class B, Thompson Falls had two players - Megan Baxter and Ellie Baxter - place in the Top 10.

Megan was fourth with a two-day score of 181. She opened state with an 88 then scored 93 on Wednesday.

Ellie was ninth after shooting 193 over 36 holes.

The tournament was held at Eagle Rock Golf Course in Billings.

In the boys championship, Kade Pardee missed a medal (top 15) after scoring 172. He started with an 89 on Tuesday before finishing with an 83.

In Class C, also held Tuesday and Wednesday at Riverside Golf Course in Bozeman, Plains sophomore Kimmy Curry finished seventh for a medal.

Curry totaled 199 in 36 holes. She opened with a 101, then a 98. Curry led the Trotters to an eighth-place team finish with a total of 696.

Joining Curry were senior Kaylee Cole and juniors Grace Horton and Lexa Craft.

Cole was 26th overall with a 229, Horton was 59th with a 268 and Craft was 63rd with a 279.

For the Plains Horsemen, senior Duncan Chisholm was 37th with a two-day total of 207. Freshman Brandt Snead was 62nd with a 237.

Also in Class C, Clark Fork (Superior-Alberton) had two medal winners.

Senior Danner Haskins was ninth with a 36-hole total of 172 and senior Aaron Waddle was 13th with a 180.

Joining them were sophomore Carter Mclees (195) and senior Bryan Mask (201). Mclees placed 21st and Mask was 25th.

The Mountain Cats placed third as a team.

For the girls, junior Aubrei Constant was 57th with a 267 and Lauren VanCleefe was 66th with a 337.
