Two games, two relatively easy wins.

That’s what they like to hear in Thompson Falls when it comes to their boys and girls basketball teams.

And they delivered, with the girls crushing the Lady Trojans 57-17, and the boys cruising past the Troy boys 55-37 this past Thursday in Troy.

The T Falls girls got things started on the road when they exploded to a 17-5 lead over the host team behind their swarming defense. The defense got even tighter in the second quarter when the Lady Hawks outscored Troy 15-0 to take a 34-5 lead into the locker room at the half.

Thompson Falls got double figure scoring from three different players, led by the 16 points scored by senior forward Avery Burgess.

With reserves playing a good part of the second half, the Lady Hawks still managed to outscored Troy 28-21 to lift their season mark to 3-0.

Joining Burgess in double-figure scoring were Gabi Hannum with 15 points and guard Chesney Lowe, who added 10 to the T Falls cause.

The T Falls boys then took on their Troy counterparts and also jumped out to a big first quarter lead, 16-6.

But Troy, behind the scoring of Paxton Fisher, who finished with a game-high 19 points, kept the game from getting out of hand. By the end of the first half, T Falls held a 27-16 lead.

The Blue Hawks would steadily add to their halftime time lead in the third and fourth quarters as Troy was unable to overcome the early deficit.

Thompson Falls was led by sophomore Bryson LeCoure’s 16 points, and got 11 from Josh Willhite.

The win upped the boys to 3-0 on the season as they and the girls prepared to return home the next night and take on Sanders County rival Plains.
