Woman’s Club continues Christmas stocking tradition
The Christmas season is just around the corner, which means there is another opportunity for members of the Plains Woman’s Club to be of service by making and stuffing Christmas stockings.
Eight volunteers assembled at the United Methodist Church of Plains to carry on a tradition that has been taking place for well over a decade. The churches’ cafeteria area was turned into a mini–Santa’s Workshop with lady elves.
The tasks for the ladies this year was to cut out, assemble, iron and attached decorations to each of the 25-stockings planned for the needy children in Sanders County. The cut-out person was Deb Cleveland, followed by assembler Samatha Bebb.
With iron in hand LeeAnn Hafner prepares the stockings for the final step of adding trim decorations. Long time club member Shirley King does the final inspection. Once assembled, each of the stockings will travel to Thompson Falls where the Thompson Falls Woman’s Club will stuff each with gifts.
Each of the completed stockings are donated to the Sanders County Coalition For Families (SCCFF). (SCCFF) is an organization founded in 1993 to provide services to victims of crime, focusing on victims of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and stalking. Each stocking is given to child in need.
