SUPERIOR – During the County Commissioner’s weekly meeting Thursday, a newly formed group addressed the commissioners along with updates from the Mineral County Airport board. The group is working on turning the old Milwaukee road into a recreation area.

REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT Sanders County is now reviewing a request for a change of use permit on county property adjacent to the Plains Airport, located within the Airport Affected Area. The proposed use change is from undeveloped to commercial/utility. The project is located off Diehl Ranch Rd. just north of the airport, in Section 20, Township 20N, Range 26W, P.P.M. A public meeting will be held April 30, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in the Commissioners Conference Room, in the Sanders County Courthouse which is handicapped accessible in Thompson Falls, Montana. At which time all interested person(s) will be given an opportunity to comment. EPA completes cleanup of mine waste in Superior

MINERAL COUNTY -  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced the completed cleanup of contaminated mining waste within the town of Superior that began on September 8, 2013.  As part of this project, mining waste containing heavy metals including antimony, lead and arsenic that exceeded human health thresholds was removed from 38 residential properties and the Mineral County Airport and placed at a repository in Wood Gulch.

“North to Alaska” now has more meaning to three St. Regis teachers than just a 1960s John Wayne movie as they pack their bags and head to Unalaska, Alaska. The adventurous trio secured jobs at the schools at The Port of Dutch Harbor. Current high school teacher and BPA supervisor, Chad Eichenlaub; Kindergarten teacher Mallery Mceldery; and fourth grade teacher Laura Jarvis will all be on the ferry from Homer, Alaska to the small island around July 19. Mceldery and Jarvis will finish up teaching summer camps and then move.
