DAV to raise money at fair
PLAINS – A new organization in part with the DAV Volunteer Transportation Network has taken on a different way to fundraise this year for a replacement van to help veterans get to their VA medical appointments.

Track teams compete in county meet
The Trotters racked up yet another impressive win at the Sanders County track meet on Thursday in Thompson Falls winning with a score of 123 points. Led by Hailey Phillips who won all five of her events, the Trotters easily outmatched the 35.5 points put up by Hot Springs.
Hospital spearheads active living programs
Walking, running, dancing, anything that gets a person moving, is a good thing. Whether it’s moderate or vigorous exercise, people need to stay active in order to stay healthy. The Mineral Community Hospital Wellness Committee has set up programs to help area residents become a little healthier. They’ve set up a six-week program with participants walking 150 minutes per week.

Meet the candidates for state legislature: Gordon Hendrick
Back in 1988, Gordon Hendrick achieved official citizenship. Even though he has spent most of his life in the United States, he had one reason for obtaining citizenship and that was so he could help the state of Montana. Immediately after becoming a citizen, he was a town councilman and then served as mayor for twelve years. For the last five years, he is now on his sixth, has served in the state legislature for House District 14. Back in August of 2008, Hendrick had said that he would end his time with the state legislative, but has now decided that with the economy in the state that he is in, his experience will be essential for the coming term.
