Diana Lynn Loseth, 53 passed away unexpectedly on September 8th, 2014 in Plains, MT. She was born on December 19th, 1960 to Anita and David Loseth in Petersburg, Ak. Five minutes after being born her twin sister Deborah (Fisher) Loseth followed.

Firefighters contain 65-acre Bald Hill Fire

Lolo National Forest Firefighters were successful Saturday in containing the Bald Hill Fire on the Superior Ranger District, keeping it to 65 acres. Firefighters are continuing to mop up the fire area and will monitor it for fire activity. All other initial attack fires on the Lolo National Forest from recent lightning were also contained today.

Phyllis Irene Bright, born January 3, 1936, passed away on October 10, 2013, peacefully at home with her family at her side. Phyllis is survived by husband John Bright, having celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 7, 2013; their three children Terri Totzke, Cindi Bailey and John W. Bright; seven grandchildren Kristen, Angela, Nicholas, James, Shawn, Nicholas B., Annie and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Garry Bright.

Copper King Fire salvage project decision issued

Plains, MT. – The Lolo National Forest is proceeding with salvage of burned timber on the Copper King Fire after a decision was signed June, 6 by Forest Supervisor, Timothy Garcia, which authorizes timber salvage and roadside hazard tree removal on approximately 1,761 acres. The decision also approved three miles of temporary road construction, 88 miles of road maintenance, 6,000 acres of tree planting, and motorized use restrictions on 5 miles of trail. Road and watershed stabilization work will commence this month, with burned tree salvage beginning in July after award of timber sale contracts.
