To all the Les Woods of America

| December 6, 2007 12:00 AM

I have read some whoppers in my time, but you win first prize.

I hope you realize some person, maybe a scholar might read and believe your account of this country's history.

First big business caused the depression. The "New Deal" did work.

The first 150 years of this country was about murdering native Americans and stealing land. It was cleared and cultivated with slave labor. Yes, maybe some might consider that "The Good Old," but maybe not!

Your account of unions is 40 or 50 years off and wrong.

Unions were created because big business did not care about safety, hours worked, wages or what happened to its employees after a lifetime of service.

Employers and employees are divided and always will be divided. Employers want to make as much money as they can.

Employees want to make as much money as they can, have safe conditions, health insurance and retirement.

I wish I felt like addressing all the wrongs in our counter point, but there is no point.

Big business traditionally rapes the land, rapes the water, rapes the air and rapes its employees.

Big business moves to other countries to continue this course. The bottom line for big business is profits.

Les Wood I can only think of one quote that fits: "There ain't no cure for stupid." — Ron White.
