The St. Regis Tigers boys team lost a hard fought battle against the Charlo Vikings Saturday after a three consecutive nights of games.

On Thursday night, the Tigers lost 73-36 against the Noxon Red Devils at St. Regis. The Tigers fell 26-59 against the Victor Pirates.

Coming into Saturday night's game against the Vikings, the Tigers were already tired from two nights of playing.

The St. Regis boys struggled in the first quarter to play against the larger and better rested Vikings. While Charlo racked up 15 points, Nathan Cantrell-Field managed to score five points to keep the Tigers in the game.

In the second quarter, the Vikings continued to use size to their advantage. Vikings junior Josh Charbono was a particularly challenging obstacle. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall, Charbono was both an offensive and defensive obstacle for the much smaller Tigers.

"It's just hard for us to guard against a guy like that," Tiger's head coach Dan Park said.

Cantrell-Field started the second quarter off strong with two 3-point shots early in the quarter. However, the Tigers could not manage to build any momentum over the Vikings and the quarter ended with Charlo in the lead 28-14.

The third quarter held no relief for the Tigers. St. Regis managed to score eight points in the quarter. However, they could not stop the Vikings' offense and they found themselves behind 41-22 by the end of the quarter.

By the time the fourth quarter started, the Tigers could no longer keep up with the Vikings, who held the Tigers to only four points in the quarter. The Tigers finished out the exhausting game behind 56-26.

"There were just too many turnovers," Park said. "We played them pretty tough for a while."

Cantrell-Field led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds. Senior Johnathon Kelley led the team in rebounds with nine. Junior Pat Quinlivan pulled down six rebounds.

"I saw some really good things out of my seniors tonight," Park said.

Saturday was the Tigers' last home game of the season, and the school honored seniors Mike Hotchkiss, Ethan MacArthur, Robert Kelley, Nathan Cantrell-Field, and Johnathon Kelley for their efforts on the team that year.

"Ethan MacArthur had never played basketball before," said Park. "He really stepped up and shot well this season."
