Sandra Janez Marquardt Gingery
Sandra Janez Marquardt Gingery, 68, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at her home near Plains surrounded by the love of her family and Heavenly Father. Cancer called and God beckoned.
Sandra was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Tooele, Utah, to Willa Lydia Williams Marquard and Hugo Martin Marquardt. She attended school in Paradise, her hometown, and high school in Plains.
Sandra's accomplishments are far to numerous to mention here. Her good work will be her memorial. While most seek recognition for things accomplished, she silently administered to those living and dead who had no advocate.
Sandra drew strength from her ancestors and heritage and hers was rich indeed. She was certain throughout her life that her Mormon faith was correct and would testify to that anytime, anywhere. Sandra was proud of her 25 years of service as a sheriff's dispatcher and was equally proud of having served as a waitress and cook at the Northern Pacific Lunchroom/Beanery in Paradise, Mont.
Sandra was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and qualified for Mayflower Descendants and Colonial Dames. In all of her good work she was most proud of helping to enact a change in legislation in Massachusetts, exonerating her direct lineage ancestor, Susannah North Martin, who was unjustly hung as a witch in Salem, Massachusetts, July 1692. Sandra was proud of being a third generation Rebekah for 40 years.
Sandra married John Gary Gingery Sept. 19, 1963, at Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Her husband was honored by the 44-plus years they spent together.
Preceding her in death was a son, John Gary Gingery, Jr; her much loved father Hugo, mother Willa, paternal grandparents Blanche Inez Marquard and Hugo Karl Marquardt, and maternal grandparents, Charles and Jane Williams. She is survived by husband John of Plains, sons Jimmie Allison and family, Plains, Gene Allison and family, Helena, and daughters Janez Gingery, Santa Cruz, Calif., and Willa Gingery, Missoula. Also surviving are grandchildren Logan, Justin, Eliza, Miles and Jimmie and her sister Annette Marquard Ward, Kentucky.
Services were held at the LDS Church in Plains Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008. Interment at the Paradise Cemetery. Arrangements are through Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Plains.
If anyone feels the need to do something in Sandra's memory then the family suggests you reach down and pet a dog or a cat, feed your horse well, and be kind to and love all children. You can count on the fact that she and her beloved horse Brooks are exploring the vistas of heaven.
