Our friend, neighbor, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and companion, Steven LaVar Ash, 47, of Belt, passed away Dec. 28, 2007, at Peace Hospice from liver failure. His memorial service was held at Belt Community Church Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008.

Steve was born in Sacramento, Calif., March 4, 1960, to Carlene and Jay Ash.

Steven later relocated to Montana and discovered this was his home.

Steve was as dedicated to his family and friends as be was to his work.

A meat cutter for most of his life.

A job that became a true passion and something that he was well known for.

Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman and we all remember the wonderful smoked meats and barbecue he treated us all to.

Our loving friend now fishes a new stream and walks in a new forest.

You are loved and you shall be remembered and missed always and forever. God speed Steven LaVar Ash.

Steve is survived by his life companion Becky Lowry of Belt, daughter Alison Ash of Lakeside, son Michael Ash of Belt, daughter Mandy Green of Washington, brother Jay ( Robbie) Ash of Sacramento, sister Debbie Buckingham of Plains, sister Cindy Ray of Philipsburg, and six grandchildren Kuyra Siegel, Adison Siegel, Jacob Green, Johnathan Green, Gabriel Green and Josua Green; stepchildren Alex Blackburn of Bozeman, Sunny Mckelvey of Idaho and Aaron Blackburn of Oregon.
