Robert (Bob) Barrie was born to Benjamin and Rhoda Barrie on one of the coldest days of 1919, November 28, in Seattle, Wash. They moved to the east side of Lake Washington where he grew up in Kirkland. He attended and graduated from Union A High School. Bob was drafted into the field artillery but enlisted in the Army Air Corp for 4 years. He served his country in World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Tech Seargent. Bob worked for the Lake Washington School District for 25 years and retired as Supervisor of School Bus Maintainance in 1977.

Bob met Elizabeth (Betty) Smith in 1946 and they married on June 27, 1947. They had four children: Marjorie Buessing, Susan Curry, Judy Gollofon and Benjamin Barrie.

Bob spent his retired years helping them maintain their vehicles and was called "Dial-a-Mechanic" by his family. He enjoyed: woodworking, fishing, swimming, auto racing, dancing, gardening, hummingbirds and hockey.

Bob gave credit to Jesus for his long life; the blessings of a loving wife of 61 years, four loving children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Bob said "Jesus has taken my fear of death away and I know that he is the only way to God."
