Herbert V. Goodrich

Herbert V. Goodrich died May 6, 2008, in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, of natural causes.

He was born July 12, 1914, in Ismay, Mont., to (Arthur) Leigh Goodrich and Edith (Lausch) Goodrich.

He attended the Ismay schools until his junior year when his family moved to Baker. It was at Baker

High School that met his future wife Eva.

They graduated in 1932. Herb and Eva Owen were married Sept. 25, 1937, at Fort Peck. Herb, three of his brothers and two brothers-in-law were involved in the construction of the Fort Peck Dam.

He worked at many jobs as a welder and a mechanic.

For a time he worked for Harpers Brother’s Logging in Darby and Alberton.

In 1946, the family moved to Plains where he had a machine shop.

Later he worked for the Flodin Lumber Company.

In 1944, Herb joined the Masonic Lodge and was active with the Lodge until 2004 when he and Eva moved to the Coeur d’Alene area.

During his years at Plains, he enjoyed being involved in the Methodist Church, as a volunteer fireman, as a Lion, and at the Senior Center.

He has been preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

One brother, Leigh Goodrich of Billings, and two sisters-in-law, Wiona Goodrich of Missoula and Dot Goodrich of Hamilton, survive.

In addition to his wife Eva, Herb is survived by his son Dean Goodrich of Missoula and his daughter Donna Goodwin of Hayden, Idaho.

Living in Post Falls, Idaho, is his grandson Deon Goodwin, his wife Celeste and their children Gabrielle, Grey and Michael. Residing in the Dalles, Ore., is his other grandson Brian Goodwin, his wife Sue-Ann and their children Chloe, Jake and Henry.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in Plains with Pastor Roy Williams officiating.

The family requests no flowers.
