Heat beats Trotters

It was senior night in Plains Friday, and while the Plains Trotters played a hard fought game against the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat, it just wasn’t enough to overtake them. Hot Springs defeated Plains in three games, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-15.

Even though it was a non-conference game, the stands were packed with both Lady Savage Heat and Trotter fans.

In the first game, Plains was able to almost match Hot Springs serve for serve through the first half of the game. That was until Jordon Fisher was able to get five points off of her serves. After that Plains struggled to get any momentum, while Matea DePoe and Devon White were able to rachet up points for the Lady Savage Heat.

In the second game, the score went back and forth for the first four possessions, until Hot Springs was able to open the game up, once again with Fisher serving. Fisher had nine points in a row off of her serves, bringing the score to 19-8. While points were pretty much traded back and forth for the rest of the game after that it wasn’t enough to pull Plains ahead of Hot Springs.

The third game went by quickly as for the first part of it both teams once again kept it close and traded points back and forth with each other. However, once again Fisher was able to show her domination with her serves as she scored 11 points in a row, bringing Hot Springs to 20 while Plains just had six. After Fisher’s 11 points, Plains’ Heather Earhart went on a run of her own scoring six points, but it just wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

For Hot Springs the team had 29 kills with Randi Arnold collecting 10 of them. The Lady Savage Heat had five blocks and DePoe had four of them. As for digs Hot Springs had 34, with Whitney Wood getting 10 of them, she also collected 20 of the team’s 22 assists, and had six of the team’s 14 aces.

For the Plains Trotters, Earhart had five of the team’s 11 kills and had three of the team’s six aces. The Trotters had four blocks with Alexis Kunzer getting two of them. As for digs Plains had 14 with Kylee Knudson getting seven of them, and for assists Plains had five with Chelsea Roosma collecting four of them.
