Law enforcement officials confirmed late Tuesday night that a hunter had been killed by gunshot wounds in an apparent hunting accident near Murray.

According to Shoshone County Sheriff Chuck Reynalds the man was apparently shot by another individual in his own party. The sheriff added that an individual in the hunting party came down to the Prichard Tavern earlier Tuesday afternoon and called in the incident to the Sheriff's Office.

Reynalds said sheriff's deputies had hiked in and just reached the scene of the incident within the nine o'clock hour Tuesday. The incident reportedly occurred at approximately milepost 10 off of the Thompson Pass highway.

Although the sheriff did not currently know the man's identity, he added that the hunting party involved was believed to be made up of family members and friends.
