The Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat had a victorious weekend at home winning all three of their matches over Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

They started off their winning ways Thursday night against the Superior Lady Bobcats, a District 10-C foe. Hot Springs swept Superior 25-14, 25-7 and 25-15. The Lady Bobcats never scored more than three points in a row during the first game, whereas the Lady Savage Heat consistently scored three or more points in a row.

During the second game, Hot Springs started off strong with four quick points, but Superior kept it close, as the two teams went back and forth, until Jordon Fisher scored 17 consecutive points to give Hot Springs the victory. The third game largely went back and forth at the beginning, with each team scoring one point, however Hot Springs had the momentum and ultimately ended up defeated Superior in less than 45 minutes of playing time.

“I’m proud of our girls, it is obvious that they came out ready to play,” Head Coach Bonnie Franklin said. “We still have some things to work on, but we’re not getting lazy, which is good.”

Hot Springs had 38 kills, with 12 of those belonging to Randi Arnold and nine to MacKenzie Wood. The team had two blocks and 38 digs. Matea DePoe, Arnold and Whitney Wood each had eight of the digs. The Lady Savage Heat had 27 assists with MacKenzie Wood collecting a whooping 22 of those. There were also nine aces for Hot Springs, and Fisher collected five of those.

On Friday night the contest was a little closer, as the Lady Savage Heat defeated Stillwater Christian 3-2. The games were close with Hot Springs taking the first one 25-23, but dropping the second 25-23, they also lost the third 25-17, but game alive and won the last two 25-18 and 15-13.

The Lady Savage Heat had 32 kills, with Arnold getting 24 of those, there were two blocks with Arnold and Abi Retallick each getting one. Hot Springs had 63 digs and Arnold had 18 of those. There were also 42 assists and MacKenzie Wood had 39 of them and also had five of the team’s 15 assists.

On Saturday the Lady Savage Heat hosted the St. Regis Lady Tigers and earned a District 10-C victory as they swept the Lady Tigers 25-17, 25-18 and 25-11.

The last time the two teams met up in St. Regis it took the Lady Savage Heat four games to put away the Lady Tigers. Franklin said that St. Regis is always very scrappy and that they were definitely a team Hot Springs needed to look out for.

The victory moved Hot Springs to 5-1 in conference play and 9-1 in overall play. The Lady Savage Heat had 30 kills with Arnold collecting 12 of them, as well as collecting two of the team’s three blocks. Hot Springs also had 29 digs with Arnold and Fisher each getting six. MacKenzie Wood had 23 of the team’s 25 assists and Devon White had six of Hot Springs’ 19 aces.

“I’m really proud of how the girls did, we really played strongly and we just need to keep it up and not get fatigued as we get closer to the end,” Franklin said.
