The Noxon Lady Red Devils played two Mineral County teams last week and split their matches, losing to Superior, but beating St. Regis.

Friday evening the Lady Red Devils took on the Lady Bobcats, losing in four games, 25-14, 25-13, 18-25 and 25-22.

Noxon had three players who each had seven kills, Lindsey Franz, Chandler Wilkinson and Stephanie Larkin. Franz also had two blocks for the team as well as an ace. Shelby Swant and Bethany Brown each had seven assists for Noxon and Wilkinson also added an ace along with Franz.

The next evening Noxon defeated the St. Regis Lady Tigers 3-1. Noxon dropped their first game 25-23, in a game that was tied for the majority of the time. They came one strong and were able to win the next three 25-16, 25-18 and 28-26.

While the scores of the second and third game would suggest somewhat of a blowout St. Regis played tough and kept on fighting. However it wasn’t enough to stop the Lady Red Devils.

Noxon dished out 22 kills with Franz leading the way with 13. Franz also had three of Noxon’s four blocks. The Lady Red Devils collected 23 digs with Wilkinson leading the way with seven. The team also had 22 assists and Brown had 12 of them. The team also had six aces.

Head Coach Ashley Block said she was proud of her team, especially in their game against St. Regis.

“They’re a tough team, and they weren’t going to let us win easily,” she said. “But the girls just kept communicating and playing strong.”

Noxon has two home games this week. They take on Thompson Falls Thursday and then play Troy on Friday.
