The Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat volleyball team swept the St. Regis Tigers Saturday night. Hot Springs defeated St. Regis 26-16, 25-22 and 25-13.

While Hot Springs had a strong showing, Head Coach Bonnie Franklin said that they’re really going to have to improve before their next game against Superior.

“Our players did not play up to their potential,” Franklin said. “We executed things well but didn’t finish.”

Hot Springs had 21 digs, 22 assists, 18 aces, one block, and 30 kills. MacKenzie Wood and Jordon Fisher tied with the most digs with five each. Jocelyn Erchul had six aces and Mackenzie Wood had the team’s lone block. Matea DePoe had eight kills and Wood had 17 assists.

The second game of the match was very close with the Tigers making a strong run near the end, however the Savage Heat were able to hold on and end up with the victory.

Franklin credited the St. Regis Tigers with playing extremely hard against the Lady Savage Heat. “St. Regis is a really scrappy team and they are every year,” Franklin said. “They are not a team you want to underestimate.”

Hot Springs plays Superior at Superior Thursday night and Franklin said that the team is going to have a lot of work to do between now and then.

“We’re going to be working a lot harder than we did last week,” Franklin said. “Obviously what we did in practice last week wasn’t enough.”

With the victory the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat remained undefeated for the season as they continue on their quest to make it to the state tournament.
