Ryne "Gordon" Stehr

Ryne G. Stehr, 82, of Superior died Sunday March 22 at the Mineral Community Hospital.

He was born April 25, 1927 in Usk, Washington to Ryne and Dot Stehr where he was raised.

He later joined the Navy in 1945 and served until 1949. He served on the U.S.S. General Omar Bundy.

After leaving the Navy, he worked in the mines in Metaline Falls, Wash. and then went to work for Diamond Match sawmill in Superior in 1953 and worked for them and DAW Forest Products until his retirements.

Gordon married Sonia Oquist in Coeur d’Alene, ID on October 14, 1951.

Some of Gordon’s enjoyments were fishing, gardening, drinking a few beers with his neighbors and camping with Sonia at Trout Creek. Gordon had a gruff exterior with a warm heart for his family and friends and especially his grandchildren.

Gordon is survived by his sister Iola Hanson and family, Cusick, Wash.; sons, Ryne (Suzie) Stehr, Missoula; Lyle Barnett, Cusick, Wash; daughters, Linnea (Danny) Weinrich, Creasent, Ore,. Terri (Brent) Nicholl, Cheney, Wash,; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-granchildren; brother-in-law Arthur Oquist, Spokane, Wash; ad companion Cheryl Stehr and her family.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Sonia, granddaughter Chelsea, and brother-in-law Jerry Hanson.

Memorial get-together will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to the Mineral Community Hospital or the cause of your choice.
