Music takes place of motocross

Instead of motocross at the Sanders County Fair this year, guests will be able to enjoy a healthy dose of music.
A Christian Concert is scheduled to take the place of motocross Thursday, Sept 3 at 8 p.m. in the Main Arena. The Rocky Mountain Rhythm Kings Jazz Ensemble from Kalispell is set to open the concert. For the main event, the Tim Bach Band, hailing in all the way from Texas will rock the stage.
Although motocross has been a feature of the fair for more than eight years, Fair Manager Mike Hashisaki said it wasn’t profitable enough for the amount of money and work put into it.
“Motocross was very labor intensive,” said Hashisaki, “The county road crew would come out just for the fair. That was an expense the county road crew shouldn’t have, and it just wasn’t profitable.”
Although they broke even every year, Hashisaki explains it was time to bring in something new that has a chance to make a real profit, citing the great success the fair has had with Christian music concerts in the past.
