The Superior Bobcats brought home a big conference win Saturday with the defeat of the Two Eagle River Eagles at home.

“They played really good Saturday night,” Bobcats Head Coach Dan Lucier said.

The Bobcats used an aggressive full-court press in the first quarter to post an impressive 21 – 10 lead and build momentum for the rest of the game.

Coming into the second quarter the Bobcats continued their fast aggressive style and outscored the Eagles 23 – 16 and took a 44 – 26 lead in the first half of the game.

The Bobcats superior teamwork continued to pay off well into the third quarter. They outscored the Eagles 17 – 6 and put another 11 points between them and the Eagles for the second time in the game.

The Eagles put forth a tough effort in the fourth quarter playing tough with the Bobcats and scoring 14 points to the Bobcats 15 fourth quarter earnings. The drive was not enough however and the Bobcats posted a big 76 – 46 conference win.

This win puts the Bobcats at 7 – 0 for conference play and 9 – 5 for the overall season.

“Conference-wise we’re pretty dang tough. We’ve still got three conference games and one non-conference game left so we just need to do a good job of getting better every week.” said Lucier.

Tyler Stenberg had a strong game for the Bobcats, scoring 30 points and snagging 17 rebounds throughout the game. Lucier said that Stenberg scored on almost 80 percent of his shots Saturday night.

“He just did a great job of controlling the middle,” Lucier said.

Wesley Yarnall scored 15 points for the Bobcats and Rollin Rennick scored 13 points Saturday evening.

“They all just played really well together as a team,” Lucier said.
