Hot Springs racked up another District 14-C victory as they defeated the St. Regis Tigers Friday night.

The Savage Heat improved to 2-4 in league play and 5-7 overall with the 58-43 victory Friday night.

The game started out close and high-scoring, with Hot Springs taking a 19-15 lead after the first quarter. However, that would be the closest that the Tigers would get to the Savage Heat. In the second quarter Hot Springs doubled St. Regis’ points, scoring 14 points to the Tigers’ seven, which let the Savage Heat take a 33-22 lead at the half.

In the third quarter Hot Springs came out swinging scoring 15 points and holding the Tigers to 10. There was no holding back for Hot Springs in the fourth quarter, even as they were outscored 11-10.

Blake Herman was the high scorer for the Savage Heat with 21, 16 of which came during the first half, helping the Savage Heat keep up with their momentum. Reiley Winebrenner had 19 points, 11 of those also came in the first half. Other scorers for the Savage Heat were Nick Malinack and Carter Farrier each with eight and Cody Hoff with two.

There was a quick turnaround for the Savage Heat, as they took on the Charlo Vikings Saturday. The game was close, however Hot Springs’ District 14-C rivals were just too much for them as Charlo took the victory 40-37.

Hot Springs came out on top in the first quarter as they scored nine points compared to Charlo’s eight. However, the Savage Heat were outpaced in the second quarter as Charlo scored nine points and were able to hold Hot Springs to just three, taking a 17-12 lead at the half.

Hot Springs had a slow third quarter as they scored nine points to Charlo’s 14, giving Charlo a 31-21 lead going into the fourth. The Savage Heat weren’t going to go down without a fight though as the racked up 16 points in the fourth quarter and held Charlo to nine. However, it just wasn’t enough as Hot Springs moved to 2-5 in league play and 5-8 overall.

Winebrenner was the lead scorer for the Savage Heat as he scored 13 points in the game. Herman had nine, Nick Malinack had four as did Cody Hoff and Trevor Bras, while Zack Malinack had three.
