The Plains Horsemen seniors had plenty to smile about Saturday evening after their game against the Eureka Lions.

Not only was it senior night, as all of the seniors were recognized on the court with their parents before the game, but the team was also able to pull out a District 7-B victory, beating the Eureka Lions 57-48.

Plains got off to a rocky start during the first quarter of the game, as Eureka out scored them 12-2 at the start of the quarter, however Plains was able to grab some momentum off of fouls and cut the lead to eight, 19-11, at the end of the quarter. The Horsemen continued on with their momentum in the second quarter as they out scored the Lions 17-14, bringing the halftime score to 33-28 in favor of the Lions.

After the half the Horsemen were just no match for the Lions as the nearly doubled the Lions’ points in the third quarter. Plains scored 15 points while Eureka scored eight. In the fourth quarter the Horsemen did double Eureka’s point total as Plains had 14 points and Eureka had seven.

Trent Thompson had a team-high 23 points in the contest. Seniors Mitch Thompson had 14 and Conor Ballantyne had 10. Dillon Fryxell had four, and Brian Green and Ben Holland each had three.

The victory moved the Horsemen to 5-1 in conference play and 15-1 in overall play.

The next game for the Horsemen will be at Thompson Falls this Friday evening.
