The Plains Trotters just couldn’t find any luck on their senior night when they took on inter-county rivals the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks Feb. 12 at home.

The Trotters lost the game 59-42 against their rivals. It was an especially hard loss for the two seniors on the team, who will never again get to play the Lady Hawks.

From the varsity team Emma Ehret and Chelsea Roosma were honored on the floor before the game as their accomplishments were listed out to the crowd. In addition to those two, manager Cynthia McCrea was also honored as was exchange student Nikki Gadirzada, who plays for the junior varsity team.

The Lady Hawks came out strong scoring 20 points in the first quarter, all while holding the Trotters to eight. In the second quarter the Trotters kept things close as the team scored 12 points and Thompson Falls scored 14, bringing the score at the half to 34-20. In the third quarter Thompson Falls continued on with the momentum they picked up in the first half. During the third quarter the Lady Hawks once again scored 14 points, while the Trotters scored eight.

In the final quarter of the game the Trotters tried to make a run for it as they out scored Thompson Falls, but it just wasn’t enough to pull ahead for the victory. In the fourth quarter Plains scored 14 points and Thompson Falls had 11, bringing the final score to 59-42 in favor of the Lady Hawks.

With the victory Thompson Falls moved to 4-3 in league play and 9-8 in overall play.
