The first baby born in 2009 in Sanders County was Brayden Theodore Phillips. Corinna Buchanan and Bill Phillips welcomed Brayden Jan. 1, 2009 at 5:42 p.m.

Bradyen weighed 4 pounds and 3 ounces and was 18 inches long. He was born at Clark Fork Valley Hospital and delivered by Dr. Jeanne Williams.

The maternal grandparents are Deena and Charles Buchanan of Plains and the maternal great-grandparents are Margarita and Charles Buchanan of Grover Beach, Calif. and Darline Wilson of Trout Creek.

The paternal grandparents are Donna Hill of Plains and Emmett Phillips of Yellville, Ark. The paternal great-grandparents are Lyle and Clara Hill of Hot Springs.

Corinna Buchanan said that her son is currently at Community Hospital in Missoula. He was born seven weeks premature and is being monitored at the hospital.

“He’s a beautiful baby and definitely a little fighter,” she said. “We’re hoping that he’ll get a little more weight on him and we’ll be able to get him out of here soon.”

Bradyen joins his big sister Cassidy Clinkenbeard in the world and Buchanan said that her daughter is excited about having a little brother.

“She’s pretty happy about it all,” she said.
