The Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat had a very good weekend as they collected victories both Friday and Saturday nights.
Their first victory came Friday night against the Alberton Lady Panthers at home.
The game started out neck and neck with both teams scoring 11 points in the first quarter. Hot Springs managed to pull ahead in the second quarter though, as they outscored Alberton 14-10, bringing the score at half time to 25-21. The Lady Savage Heat never looked back after the half, as they came out of the locker rooms and scored an impressive 20 points in the third quarter as opposed to the seven points Alberton managed to score. In the fourth quarter Alberton managed to outscore Hot Springs, 16-13, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Savage Heat won the game 58-44 and moved to 5-0 on the season.
Jordon Fisher and MacKenzie Wood each scored 16 points for the Lady Savage Heat, combining for 11 of the team’s 20 third quarter points. Ranid Arnold had 11 points, Jocelyn Ercuhl had six, Matea DePoe had three, and Whitney Wood, Devon White and Meghan Massingale all each had two points.
The next contest the Lady Savage Heat had was Saturday night in Superior as they took on the Lady Bobcats.
The game wasn’t close, even at the beginning as in the first half alone the Lady Savage Heat had five three-pointers accounting for almost half of their points. All but one of these came from MacKenzie Wood.
The Superior Lady Bobcats didn’t know what to do as the Lady Savage Heat ran all over the court. At the half the Lady Bobcats had only scored eight points, while Hot Springs had 34 under their belt.
The Lady Savage Heat showed no signs of letting up as they continued to dominate in the second half. By the fourth quarter, the deficit was so great that the clock continued to run, even when the ball was knocked out of bounds.
The Lady Savage Heat ended up winning the game 69-27.
The Lady Savage Heat take on Two Eagle at home on Thursday and then travel to Noxon on Friday for their next two games.
