The Lady Hawks are moving onto Divisionals after taking fourth in District play over the weekend.

The Thompson Falls volleyball girls started their weekend off with a three game win against the Plains Trotters.  The scores were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-15.  Thompson Falls then took on Eureka in a five game match that ended in Eureka’s win.  The scores were kept close in all five games, with Thompson Falls losing game one and two both 25-20.  The Lady Hawks came back for the win in game three and four 25-15 and 25-19.  Game five was played tight, but Erueka pulled out with the win 11-15.

Thompson Falls met Troy next in District play and won the four game match.  The Lady Hawks stomped Troy in the first game of the match, winning 25-11.  Troy recuperated and won the close second game 23-25.  Thompson Falls went on to win the next two games, beating Troy 25-17 and 25-19.

“We are playing well right now, the kids are at the top of their game and we are just going out and playing hard,” said Thompson Falls head coach Sandra Kazmierczak.

Kyla Molzhon led the game against Troy with 16 kills and 15 digs.  Hannah Peters had eight kills, three aces and ten digs.  Hope Reid had six kills and seven blocks.

The team’s final game of district play was against Mission and lost in three close games with scores of 23-25, 23-25 and 21-25.  Molzhon led her team with 14 kills and 12 digs, Kelsey Fitchett had four kills and nine blocks and Karli Cavill had two kills, 22 set assists and 14 digs.

“We played some good matches and showed a lot improvements,” Kazmierzcak.

Thompson Falls faces Loyola on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. for the start of Divisonal play.

“I just hope we can step up and have fun, they are strong teams we will be facing, but the girls have been showing strong improvements,” said Kazmierczak.
