The Local Printery located on Railroad St. was vandalized early Monday morning.

The building located in the back parking lot had one line of black spray paint sprayed around the entire building. Printery owner Randy Garrison said he found the graffiti at 8:30 Monday morning.

After contacting police he was informed that the police did their patrols around 2:30 a.m. and did not notice anything suspicious around that time, therefore, the vandalism occurred somewhere between the hours of 3:00 and 8:30 a.m.

“In 27 years here, I’ve never had vandalism to that degree, it’s sad you have the problem here in Plains,” said Garrison.

Garrison said the police are actively pursuing suspects in this case as it would be considered a felony.

The graffiti was being washed away by one of the printery employees Tuesday morning. Garrison said it should all come off the building with “a little elbow grease.”

Plains Police Chief Shawn Emmett said the police are doing everything they can to track down the perpatrators and are beginning to check with their local contacts to try and find some leads. There was nothing left at the scene except the stripe of spray paint around the building.

Emmett said it was calm for it being fair weekend, with only five total arrests between Thursday and Monday.

If anyone has any information regarding the vandalism, please come forward and contact either the Plains Police Department at 826-5990 or the Valley Press at 826-3402.
