Lady Hawks have tough week despite improvement

The Thompson Falls LadyHawks volleyball team had a strong week. It’s just too bad that they won’t have anything to show for it. Despite stretching St. Ignatius to the maximum five games and pushing Troy to four games Thompson Falls is still without a win in conference play. “We lost both, but we played well. We are just young,” says Head Coach Sandra Kazmierczak. “We looked good this week even though we lost.”

Coach Kazmierczak describes the season so far as a time for adjustment. Her players are still adjusting to playing as a team after only returning two players from last year’s team that played both the front and back rows during the game.

Despite ultimately losing to Mission on Friday, senior Kyla Molzhon had a monster day as she finished with 21 kills and 15 digs. Her 21 kills doubled Mission’s Sierra Scott who had the second most digs on the day with 10.

Fellow senior Karli Cavill finished with 35 assists on the day.

On Thursday against Troy Molzhon once again finished with a team-high 15 kills, nine digs and four aces. Jessica Wadsworth finished the match with two blocks.

While, the team keeps on improving Coach Kazmierczak stresses the importance of keeping the team positive. She does this with good fast practices and being positive herself. “We have to believe in them, and I believe in them and they believe in themselves,” says Coach Kazmierczak.

Next up for Thompson Falls is a road game against Loyola on Thursday and a home game against Eureka on Friday.

The Thompson Falls JV team fell to Troy in three games, 12-25, 24-26 and 11-15. Hope Reid led the team with five blocks, six kills and two digs. Against Mission the team fell in four games, 17-25, 13-25, 17-14 and 6-15. LeAnn Lantz had five assists and three aces for the team, while Kamiah Schomer had eight digs.
