Vivian P Clark was born March 9th 1914. She was raided on a farm and learned early in life, the value of hard work. Vivian loved studying and was a good student. During the Great Depression, Vivian was boarding in a Malta boarding house, while she was going to school. I think she had just started the ninth grade when her father came and told her she had to come home. The family was out of money and he needed her to work on the farm. This was a life long disappointment for her. Vivian got married and left home against her father’s wishes. The marriage ended after many years of a difficult relationship. Vivian worked at various jobs to make a living. In Vivian’s early twenties she worked for the WPA making quilts. The quilts that were made under this program were used in hospitals, orphanages and adoption centers. Later Vivian worked at a Dime Store in Malta. There she learned to order merchandise and to keep books. She was valued as an employee.

While in Malta she met David Clark. On August 31, 1952 they were married. David was the love of her life. The couple lived in various places. David and Vivian worked at Sleeping Buffalo on the High Line. After moving from there, they spent some time on a ranch near Lewistown, Montana. There David worked as a ranch hand and Vivian cooked. In 1970 the couple moved to Hot Springs for a short time, and then David found work in Kalispell, Montana. They lived there for two years, then in 1972 they returned to Hot Springs. While in Hot Springs Vivian worked at the Nursing home as a C.N.A. She loved her job and worked hard. Her yard, at the family home was full of flowers. Vivian loved to garden and took great pride in her flowers. Vivian and David loved to go out camping where they would have a great time in God’s creation.

After the death of her beloved husband, Vivian sold her home in Hot Springs and moved to Plains. She was able to purchase a mobile home and put it on a lot. Vivian fixed up her yard with lots of flowers. She was a faithful member of the First Church of God.

In 2002 there was a terrible windstorm that took the roof off her Mobile home. She had gotten to the place where it was not safe for her to be by herself and so she moved to the long-term care unit at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. She was always busy. Because of her past history as a C.N.A. she often thought of herself as just being at work. She did do a lot of jobs around like folding towels and cleaning the handrails. Vivian was not a quitter. She continued on to the end. She was an inspiration to many. On September 17th Vivian heard her Saviors Voice and went home to be with the Lord. She was 95 years old at her death.

Vivian was proceeded in death by her husband David Clark, her parents and a brother. She is survived by a step daughter Dorothy Konichek from Wisconsin and a step son Floyd Clark of Florida. Graveside service was held Monday September 21 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held Thursday September 24th at Clark Fork Valley Hospital Long Term Care Facility in Plains, Montana.
