Plains high school graduate promoted to First Lieutenant

Cheri Seli

Kendall Seli, a 2003 graduate of Plains High School and the son of Rob and Cheri Seli, was promoted to First Lieutenant in the US Army in November 2008. Seli attended Gonzaga University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant after completing ROTC training in 2007; he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in math the same year.

After being assigned to Ft. Bragg, NC, Seli was deployed to Afghanistan in December 2007, where he was the ranking officer at the outpost to which he was assigned. Since his return to the US in May, 2008, he has been at Ft. Bragg, where he is Fire Support Officer with the 1-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne.

Upon his return to the States, he was sent to Ft. Benning, GA, for paratrooper training; he completed the 3-1/2-week course and received his basic paratrooper wings in October 2008. He has received additional training as liaison to the Air Force in Frankfort, Germany and Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

Seli was deployed to Afghanistan again on August 29.
