Alberton doesn't see placings, but continues to better individual marks

The girls and boys of the Alberton track team finally got a chance to compete this past weekend. The team lost April 13 meet, the Loyola Relays to weather. Before that, the Florence Invitational was also cancelled due to weather related conditions. And while the team headed up to the Seeley Invitational on April 24 at the Big Sky Track once again the weather proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Although the meet wasn't cancelled or postponed, it was a cold day to be out on the track.

The Panthers boys and girls track team didn't see anybody place in any of their events. However, Rachel Clevenger said that while nobody placed first through sixth at the meet, she said that they had a lot of people improve in their marks overall.

"We didn't have anybody that placed, but everyone improved in their marks," Clevenger said. "Overall, I felt it was a good meet."

Clevenger said that she couldn't specifically name anyone, noting that everybody just continued to improve, which impressed her. She said that when "you can get better times and it's cold outside, you know you're doing something right."

"We just continue to do better and in the end that's what you want," Clevenger said, "to improve."

Clevenger said that it has been hard with meets being cancelled as it doesn't give the kids a chance to get out and compete against other schools.

"The more that you can get out to compete, the more opportunities you have to get better in times," she said.

The Panthers will be in Charlo on Thursday and in Superior on Saturday. The meet Saturday begins at 10 a.m. and is the only in-county meet for the team.
