Booby Boutique Relay for Life Fundraiser

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life for Mineral County will take place at the Superior High School track on Friday July 9, 2010. Eighteen relay teams throughout the county are working on fundraising projects to help fight cancer through awareness and donations. One of the new teams this year, Moonwalkers for the Cure, is working on an unusual event that should be fun and benefiting for all who attend. The Moonwalkers are hosting a "Booby Boutique" at the 4-H Building on Friday, May 7 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

So what is the "Booby Boutique" all about? It is about shopping for elite and fashionable items, eating delicious snacks (including chocolate), drinking wine and punch (not mixed together!), enjoying conversations with friends in a lavishly decorated room complete with background music and donating funds in exchange for the super bargains you will find. Hourly door prizes will also be available as well as great items to bid on in several silent auctions.

The Booby Boutique was an idea dreamed up by a couple of the Moonwalker's team members who were discussing what to do with all of the nice clothes, jewelry, shoes, purses, scarves, jackets, belts, hats and etc. that had only been worn once or twice and were taking up valuable room in their closets and spilling out into the kids rooms. These are not the normal everyday kinds of women's clothing and accessories, but those special outfits for special occasions; you know the kind of stuff you find in a boutique. So the team members turned the idea into a fund raising project for Moonwalkers team.

All items offered for sale in the boutique will be of high quality and look like new or nearly new. Everything will be priced VERY AFFORDABLE. All funds received will go to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for Mineral County.

The Moonwalkers team hopes the Mineral County community will enjoy and benefit from the Booby Boutique taking place again on May 7 and May 8. Depending on success, maybe this could become an annual event.
