Tennis girls beat Eureka, St. Ignatius

It seems that nobody can slow down the Superior girls and their game of tennis. Hand any member of the team a racket and they'll out swing any opponent on the opposing side of the net. The girls, to say the least, are on fire.

The team beat Eureka on April 23, 7-0. In singles play, Cary Chamberlain defeated Casey Armstrong, 7-6 and 6-2, despite losing the first set 1-6. Kiana Cox also defeated her opponent on the court on Friday. Cox beat Karina Hofstee, 6-1 and 6-2. Michele Reinelt battled against Angela Bailey for a match victory. She won 7-5 in the first set and 6-2 in the second set. Chanel Elliot defeated Eureka's Ashley Brown, 6-0 and 6-2, winning the match without a hitch.

In doubles play, partners Kaylee Crabb and Sarah Wuebkes didn't even give their opponents the chance to make a stand. Crabb and Wuebkes defeated Eureka's Shelby Taurman and Shannon Stein, 6-0 and 6-1.

Catie Goodpasture and Myranda Kuhl were on fire against their opponents. The duo downed Eureka's Marissa Jones-Flaget and Veda Henion, 6-3 and 6-3.

Superior pair Alycia Scofield and Caitlin Coleman also found victory in doubles play. They controlled the match against Eureka's Jessica Tullis and Amber Brown winning 6-2 and 6-0.

Things were no different against St. Ignatius on Tuesday, April 20. Superior was the powerhouse team and beat St. Ignatius, 5-1.

Chamberlain found victory in singles play against Sarah Bowers, 6-1 and 6-2. Reinelt went 6-0 in the first set against Rachel Jensen. Then in the second set, Reinelt clenched a second win, 6-2. Elliot defeated Jenny Dillard without difficulty, 6-2 and 6-2. Jane Makepeace, Kiana Cox won 6-3 against Jane Makepeace in the first set, but lost over the next two. However, the scores were close. In the second, Co lost by one point, 7-6, and lost by only two in the third set, which lost her the match, 7-5.

Once again, the doubles on the Superior side had complete control of the court. Wuebkes and Crabb defeated Becky Hiatt and Morgan Andres, 6-1 and 6-4. Goodpasture and Kuhl were in complete control against opponents Alex Guinness and Synne Larson. Their opponents didn't get any points on the score board, while Kuhl and Goodpasture dominated. They won both sets 6-0.

The girls will be in Superior on Thursday, April 29 and will play against Valley Christian. The girls beat Valley Christian back on April 9. The girls will also play at Darby on April 30 and will be in Townsend for the Townsend Duals on May 1.
