A fatal shooting occurred over the weekend in Mineral County. Officers responded to a call during the early morning hours on Dec. 12 that came into 911 as a domestic dispute. Dispatch was told that shots were fired and officers were sent to the site in the DeBorgia area.

The Superior Ambulance Service responded to the call and after arriving on scene, performed CPR. It was ultimately determined that there was nothing that could be done to resuscitate the victim. An autopsy is currently being performed at the crime lab in Missoula and authorities are waiting for the results so they can proceed with the investigation.

Deputy Mike Boone, Deputy Adam Cole and Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Shaun Smalley responded to the call. Sergeant Bill Pandis also arrived a short time later. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers made contact with two individuals, who were later taken into the Sheriff’s Office and interviewed. At this time, the Sheriff’s office is not looking for any further suspects.

The identity of the victim was not available at time of press so that the victim’s family can be properly notified.
