The Superior wrestlers had a packed schedule last week. They wrestled at Noxon on Tuesday against Noxon, Thompson Falls and Eureka. Then, on Thursday, they wrestled against Darby and Thompson Falls. Finally, on Saturday, they were up in Deer Lodge to wrestle at the Ron Fuhrman Memorial meet.

“The kids are wrestling where they’re going to be at the rest of the season so now they’re just getting used to the weight class,” Coach Charlie Crabb said.

Crabb said that the duel with Noxon, Thompson Falls and Eureka went well and that they won most of their matches.

Against Thompson Falls and Darby on Thursday, Dan Taron won one at 135 pounds, Josh Wright went 0-2 at 145 pounds, Wally Schrock went 0-2 at 145, Seth Lapinski wrestled 0-2 and Tyler Wharry wrestled 0-3. Anthony Parkin went 1-1.

“We didn’t do real good,” Crabb said, “but the matches were close. The kids ran into some pretty tough matches.”

On Saturday, however, the Superior wrestlers shined. Crabb said that they took six wrestlers up to the meet and four of them placed. Superior finished last in the rank of team standings with 67.5 points.

Taron took third place at 135 pounds, 2-1. Wright took home a first place in his weight class, wrestling 3-0. Schrock came in second behind Wright, 1-1. At 152 pounds, Wharry took home a second place finish, 1-1.

Crabb said that this is the first time that they’ve had such a busy schedule. On Monday, the Bobcats hosted Florence.

“We didn’t even get a practice in,” Crabb said. “We had one day off to get ready.”

Crabb said that it’s too early to tell where the wrestlers on looking down the road for state. He said that things are still working themselves into place and the kids are still growing.
