Long week for Devils

The Noxon Red Devils dropped three straight last, extending their losing streak to four-straight. First, a 35-53 loss at Troy, then a 44-45 nail-biter versus Two Eagle River and finally a 29-55 defeat at Charlo. The Red Devils are now 1-4 overall, 0-2 in conference.

On Thursday, in their final preseason contest, the Devils were beat out of the gate by the Trojans who darted out to a 27-15 halftime advantage.

The third quarter would be in the one in which Noxon out-scored Troy, gaining a single point to head into the fourth quarter down 29-40 before Troy gave one last push to extend their lead to 18 by the final buzzer.

Neal Jopling, Tyrell Wilkenson, Jordan Eichert and Travis Tammaro all scored seven for the Red Devils in the loss.

Cody Orr and Kody Hoffman were in double-digits scoring 14 and 10 respectively for the Trojans.

Versus Two Eagle River on Friday, Noxon came within moments of their first District 14-C win, but two missed free-throws with one second remaining cost them the game.

Skyler Rossbach scored 15 points for the Eagles, who led by eight with three minutes left in the fourth quarter. Marcus Brown came off the bench to score 11 for Two Eagle River.

Noxon had a chance to take the lead in the waning moments, but the Red Devils missed two free throws with one second left to seal the Eagle win.

Jordan Eichert scored six of his team-high 14 points for the Red Devils in the fourth quarter.

Skyler Rossbach led the Eagles with 15 points, and Marcus Brown was right behind with 11.

On Saturday, the Red Devils limped to just nine first-half points and were out-scored in each of the game’s four periods by Charlo.

The Vikings were led by Dillon Delaney with 15 points. Garrett Herron, 12, and Chance Rosenbaum, 11, also scored in double-figures.

Wilkinson led Noxon with seven points.
