Junior guard Garrett Reinschmidt drives baseline for the Blue Hawks in their 74-71 loss to Eureka.

After an impressive pre-season, including a Sanders County Tip-off Tournament Trophy, the Bluehawks have struggled to an 0-2 start in their District 7-B conference schedule, giving them a 2-2 overall record and an 0-2 conference mark.

On Tuesday, The Bluehawks took on Troy at home hoping to avenge two losses suffered last year at the hands of the Trojans. Their attempt would be unsuccessful, however, as Troy came away with the 80-73 victory. This would be the first meeting in two years that was decided by more than a four-point spread.

Thompson Falls was outscored in each quarter, but the fourth, where they cut their deficit by four, besting Troy 21-17.

Four Bluehawks would score in double digits. Senior forward Chalis Wilson led the way with 15 points, Sky Hall added 14, junior guard Garrett Reinschmidt cotributed 11 and junior forward Dalton Groshong scored 10. Jaron Laws chipped in nine points.

Cody and Cory Orr ignited the Trojan attack, scoring 21 apiece.  Seniors Mikey Ormiston Trent Cratty were right behind with 19 and 17 respectively. Despite, having only five players score, Troy managed to best the high-scoring Bluehawks on their way to improving to 2-1, 1-0.

On Saturday, the Bluehawks were bested by another league foe in Eureka as they watched a late lead evaporate by way of a Chris Ibach trey with three seconds on the clock. A steal by Bryton Guckenberg would keep Thompson Falls from any chance of retaliation.

Wilson paced Thompson Falls, scoring 15 for the second straight game. Reinschmidt and Laws were also in double figures with 14 and 13 points respectively.

For the Lions, Ryan Holder posted 31 points, Tanner Person put up 14 and Tanner Blankers notched 12. Guckenberg scored seven and snatched 17 rebounds.
