The Alberton boys came from behind last Thursday to beat the St. Regis Tigers.

The Panthers started out behind early on, leaving the first quarter down by only a few points, 6-9. Moving into the second quarter, the Panthers never let St. Regis too far ahead of them. The game was tied at 15-15 and with 1:52 on the clock, Todd Myrstol sank a two-point shot to move the Panthers ahead of the Tigers. But the Tigers rebounded and tied the game up again seconds before halftime, 17-17.

Moving into the third quarter, St. Regis jumped ahead, but the Panthers kept them within reach. Jake Thompson tied the game up with just 30 seconds left to play, 23-23. The Tigers, however, weren’t about to quit, and the Panthers entered the fourth quarter behind by two.

During the last three minutes of the fourth quarter, the Panthers rallied and with some critical free throws to help them out, they tied the game, 32-32, before moving ahead. The Panthers put four more points on the board and won, 36-32.

Myrstol scored nine points for the Panthers and Thompson led with 12 points. Brandon Lehl added eight points and Josh Webb scored four.

With the first win of the season, the boys went on to play Drummond on Saturday. They ended up losing, 37-58, which put them at 0-1, 1-3 for the season.

Alberton came out slow in the first quarter, trailing 4-10 at the start of the second quarter. Moving into halftime, they were down 11-28.

Jake Thompson led the Panthers with 18 points and Lehl added five. Dayton Hudson and Andrew Lommen scored six a piece.

The Panthers have a couple of games this week. They play Victor on Tuesday in an away game and play Phillipsburg at home on Wednesday.
