The Superior Bobcat wrestlers took the weekend off after a tournament at Thompson Falls on Thursday, January 28. This was the last match before divisionals, which are scheduled for Saturday up in Deer Lodge. The meet was a tough one for the boys and only two wrestlers won one of their matches.

At 105 pounds, River Sides wrestled against Dalton Nelson from Thompson Falls and lost 0-4. He also lost to Arlee wrestler Austin Rabel 3-10.

Garrett Stephens wrestled at 135 pounds and won by pin against Cody White, a wrestler from Thompson Falls. He lost, however, to Tanner Gascon, also of Thompson Falls.

Dan Taron won by pin in his first match against wrestler Sean Cavanaugh of Thompson Falls, only to lose by pin in his match against a wrestler from Arlee. Taron wrestled at 130 pounds.

At 145 pounds, Tyler Wharry lost all three of his matches by pin. Wharry found himself pinned to the mat by Arlee wrestlers Cole Rice and Al Plant. He lost to Tyler Abbot from Thompson Falls. Mackenzie Crabb also lost both of his matches at 171 pounds. He lost to wrestlers from Thompson Falls.

Wrestling Coach Charlie Crabb said that the wrestlers will be focusing on getting ready for divisionals this week in practice.

“We’re gearing up for divisionals this Saturday in Deer Lodge in order to qualify for state,” he said. “We’re trying to qualify as many wrestlers as we can. Everyone is healthy and in good shape. So all that is left is getting it done.”
