The Alberton Panthers faced off against the Seeley Swan Blackhawks on Thursday night, January 7, in front of packed bleachers. In the first two minutes of the game, the Blackhawks scored a two point shot.

The Panthers wasted no time in traveling the ball down the court to match the points. The Blackhawks then scored a three point shot and white failed to make a play to match their opponents score. The ball went back to the Blackhawks, but the Panthers kept the basket closed off, and managed to get the ball back, but still failed to make a point. For awhile there, it was a back and forth, tug of war to see who would claim the next points. They ended up going to the Blackhawks and at the end of the first quarter the Panthers were down nine points, 2 to 11.

In the second quarter, the Panthers never gained the lead, but managed to always hold half of the points of what their opponent had. The score was 6 to 12, then 8 to 16, 11 to 22 and then ended up 12 to 24 at halftime. Despite gaining points, the Blackhawks always managed to continue to score again, refusing to give the Panthers a chance to overtake them.

The third and fourth quarters moved the same way. For every point the Panthers managed to make, they couldn’t hold their opponent off from making a basket. Despite playing tough, they couldn’t manage to take the lead. At the end, the score was 29 t0 59.

The boys will play their next game against Superior on January 14 at home. Then, on Saturday, January 16 Panthers will travel to face off against Lincoln.
