The Superior Lady Bobcats had a hard time scoring against Darby on Friday night when they played the Tigers at an away game. The girls were down by 12 points at halftime and going into the fourth quarter they were down by 17. The Lady Bobcats managed to catch up some, losing only by seven points to the Tigers.

“We didn’t play very good offensively,” said Coach Jeff Schultz. “We were struggling all weekend really to score. It was like there was a lid on the basket.”

The Lady Tigers managed a win against Troy on Saturday, 38-26, but Schultz said that in the first half of the game they were still having trouble finding the basket.

“We weren’t blocking out real well and has some turnovers, but moving into the second half we managed to break through and figure out how to get past that lid,” he said.

Schultz said that he’s still waiting for the girls to bring a whole game together. He said they will play well defensively in some quarters and offensively in others, but have yet to play solid through all four quarters.

“It’s been up and down all season,” he said. “I’m still waiting for them to put a whole game together. We’ll be excellent in three quarters and then fall short in one. When we lost against Alberton we didn’t play well defensively in the first quarter and the same thing happened back when we played against Florence. We just need it to come together and I think we’d be doing well.”

Jessica Taylor led with 12 points against Darby. Taylor, Tamara Rennick and Ashley Blaylock all had seven points each against Troy.

The Lady Bobcats traveled to Ronan on Tuesday and will play at Florence on Saturday. They lost to Florence back on December 23, 48-62. The girls don’t play another home game until February 6 when they battle against Deer Lodge for a second time. They lost to Deer Lodge back on January 9, 37-68.
