Even if you're planning to hang around home this summer there's going to be plenty to do. The St. Regis Community Council has plenty to offer and with the newly constructed pavilion ready for use, they're planning to bring the community a summer of fun.

"Now that St. Regis has an outdoor venue, the St. Regis Community Council can facilitate different types of events such as concerts, theatre, carnivals, etc.," Jessica Connolly said.

And while the flea market has come and gone, there are plenty more events planned. On June 27, at 2 p.m., Rob Quist will be performing in St. Regis at the pavilion, which sits in the St. Regis Community Park. On July 4, from 11 a.m. to dark, residents can come and enjoy the Bluegrass Concert, featuring the Gravely Mountain Boys, and a carnival. On August 21, at 6 p.m., theatre is coming to the park with the performance of Adventures on the Western Stage. Finally, on September 18, the Copper Mountain Band will perform at 6 p.m.

Of course, food and beverages will be available at all these events. Connolly said the council feels that these events are great opportunities for families in the area to utilize the newly constructed outdoor venue.

"This is a great opportunity for kids and families to enjoy the park while listening to music or watching a theatre group perform," Connolly said.

She said they are hoping that the events will also bring in out-of-towners for the weekend and in effect bring business to the area.

"I think that having these events at the park will also be good for local business since the hope is to bring in out-of-towners for entire weekends," Connolly said.

Along with the many summer festivities already happening at the pavilion, Connolly said that they are also renting out the pavilion to those who are interested in holding different types of events this summer.

"This is a great place to have birthday parties, weddings, family reunions and more," Connolly said. "The pavilion is a great asset to the community."

The St. Regis Community Council would like to thank all the volunteers that donated their time to build the pavilion. They are Bob Clyde, Steve Young, Carol Young, Leslie Garber, Gary Garber, Curtis Cochran, Bill McDermott, Jessica Connolly, Joe Connolly, Jim Burr and Nathan Burr. They also wanted to offer a special thanks to Larry Meter for doing the electrical work at material cost, Superior Color Center for their paint donation, Felstet for the tire removal donation and discounted concrete and North Western Energy for donating the additional footage over 100 feet. Without these volunteers, the project could not have been completed within budget.

Connolly also said that the St. Regis Community Council is expanding the number of events it sponsors and are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks. She said if you are interested in helping to contact her at 649-7206.

"Your help would be greatly appreciated by all," Connolly said. "If you can only help for a few hours or would like to manage an entire event, we need you."
