After being ranked second during the regular season the Plains minor league team had a great tournament in Noxon two weeks ago to win the tournament and take first among county teams.

"I thought they played very well to win the championship," says coach Bruce Swanson.

The championship game was especially exciting as they had to go into extra innings to beat the top seeded Thompson Falls.

The team had to come from behind to beat Thompson Falls and finally bested them in the seventh inning when Johnny Williams had a base hit to drive in the winning run.

"They were very exited to win the tournament and they did a really good job," says Coach Swanson.

It was a great pitching performance by Jay Vonheeder and Tanner Ovitt who combined to win the game and it was timely hits by Johnny, Wyatt Weyers and Jay that provided enough offense for Plains.

It was their third win during the tournament. The team had beaten Hot Springs earlier that day and Noxon the night before.

The team finished the season with only three losses for an overall record of 10-3. All-stars now begin this week for the minors and those chosen for the team will have a three-week season to play on the all-county team.
