Quilters look to provide an organization in need with funds

Non-profit organizations that are looking for a way to supplement funds need to look no farther than a handmade quilt.

Every year, for the past 10 years, the Cabin Fever Quilter's have raffled off a quilt at the Mineral County Fair. Tickets are sold and the money raised is donated to a non-profit organization. In past years, quilts have sold between $1,200 and $1,500 and sold 350 to 400 tickets.

Sherill Christensen, chairman of the quilt show, said that they are once again looking for non-profit organizations to write letters as to why they would like to be the recipient of the funds from the sale of tickets. The deadline for those letters is April 15. Past projects have included putting a walking trail in St. Regis, giving the money to non-profit organizations such as Women In Timber and putting defibrillators in sheriff cars.

The quilt show itself is a huge draw at the fair. The quilt that will be raffled is being quilted by Grace Doyle at the Bed and Breakfast in Alberton. Interested organizations should send their letters to PO Box 296, Superior, Mt. If you have any questions call 678-4240.
