Lawnmowers recovered that went missing

The lawnmowers that went missing two St. Regis residences were recovered on Friday. Undersheriff Mike Johnson said that through an "informed lead" they were able to locate the two items. He said that a juvenile has been cited for the crime.

The incidents, which were incorrectly referred to as robberies in last week's Mineral, went missing on April 10 and April 16. Johnson said that a lot of the times cases like these are solved because individuals in the community step forward with information.

In the case of the lawnmowers, this proved especially to be true, as they didn't have a lot to go on in the specific cases because the lawnmowers were easily acquired. He said it is important in this economy that people take measures to secure their property and belongings, making it as difficult for those wishing to steal items.

"These possessions should be secured the best they can in the event that someone did take them they would leave behind some evidence," Johnson said.

Johnson continues to caution that with the economy in the dire state that it is crime will continue to rise and people should be vigilant and take extra care of their possessions.
